How to rent an apartment online
You can rent some apartments immediately and directly online, quickly and easily. In these cases, the rental process works much like an online store, based on photos, presentation videos, and other information provided about the apartment. Read more below.
Tenancy Agreement Online
The tenancy agreement for an apartment rented online is signed electronically using online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. As part of the online rental process, you accept the marketing and communication terms as well as the rental terms and conditions. Please note that applicants’ credit information will be checked during the rental process. The online rental service guides you step by step and is easy to use. If you have any questions about renting an apartment, our customer service team will be happy to assist you.
The property listing will indicate if the apartment can be rented directly online. A tenancy agreement made through the online service is always valid until further notice (open-ended). Any minimum rental period will be stated in the property listing. Please note that tenancy agreements made through the online service cannot be signed in the name of a company.
If your online tenancy agreement includes a promotional benefit, you will receive an updated rent invoice by email on the next business day after signing the agreement.
Start Date of the Tenancy Agreement
The tenancy agreement can begin no earlier than the apartment’s availability or completion date and, depending on the property, no later than one month from that date. The online rental calendar will show you the available start dates for the agreement.
Credit and Background Checks
Renting an apartment through the online service requires strong identification using online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. As part of the online rental process, we check credit information through the credit register of Suomen Asiakastieto Oy and verify personal information through the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
If you have a registered credit default, you cannot rent an apartment through the online service, but you may submit a housing application. Credit defaults do not automatically prevent you from receiving a housing offer, but they may affect the amount of the security deposit required. In some cases, the tenancy agreement may initially be offered as a fixed-term contract.
A binding tenancy agreement requires that the information you provide is accurate, that you are acting on your own behalf, and that there is no suspicion of misuse or criminal activity related to the rental. We reserve the right not to approve a tenancy agreement if there are substantial grounds for doing so or if there are significant issues in the applicant’s rental history.
