Keys and Safety

Key Collection

Keys can be collected from the designated locksmith on the start date of your tenancy or right of occupancy. Please remember to bring your photo ID, tenancy agreement, and proof of payment of your security deposit when collecting your keys. In some cases, you may also be asked to present proof of valid home insurance.

If someone else is collecting the keys on your behalf, they must also present a signed authorisation letter (power of attorney). The use of an authorisation letter must be agreed separately with the landlord or property manager. Please read the instructions included in your move-in letter carefully.

If you accidentally lock yourself out of your apartment, please contact your property's maintenance company. The maintenance company can provide access to residents who are registered in the building's resident register. Please note that a door-opening service fee will be charged according to the maintenance company's price list.

Lost Keys

Apartment keys remain the tenant's responsibility throughout the tenancy, so please keep them safe at all times. If you lose a key, contact Colliers Customer Service immediately. If a key is lost, the lock will be rekeyed or the lost electronic key or key fob will be deactivated, and a replacement key will be programmed for the apartment's locking system. The costs of rekeying locks due to lost keys will be charged to the tenant. We also recommend checking whether your home insurance covers key loss or lock replacement costs.

Spare Keys

If you require additional keys, please contact Colliers Customer Service. Spare keys are available at the tenant's expense.

Smoke Alarms & Fire Safety

Apartments are equipped with smoke alarms, which may be battery-operated or connected to the building's mains electricity supply with a backup battery.

Test your smoke alarm regularly by pressing the test button. A working smoke alarm will emit a loud warning sound. Regular testing is important, even if the battery is new.

• Replace the battery in battery-operated smoke alarms once a year.
• Finnish regulations require at least one smoke alarm for every 60 m² of living space.
• If a smoke alarm is missing, submit a maintenance request immediately.
• We recommend keeping a fire blanket in your apartment for safely extinguishing small fires, especially kitchen grease fires.

If you hear a fire alarm in your building, check where the alarm is coming from and ring the doorbell of the affected apartment. If nobody answers and you notice smoke or smell smoke, return to your apartment or evacuate the building using the safest available exit and immediately call the emergency number 112.

For fire safety reasons, personal belongings must not be stored in stairwells or other shared areas. This includes items such as doormats, flower pots, furniture, bicycles, pushchairs, or other personal belongings. Emergency exits and escape routes must always remain completely clear.

Building Rescue Plan

Your building's Rescue Plan can be found in the Tenant Portal, the Tenant App and in your home buildings information details. We encourage all tenants to familiarise themselves with the Rescue Plan and the building's emergency exits and evacuation routes.

Building Entrance Doors & Stairwell Security

For the safety and security of all residents, do not allow unauthorised persons into the building or shared facilities. Before opening the entrance door using the intercom or door buzzer, make sure you know who is requesting access. Do not allow unknown persons into the stairwell or other common areas.

Please also make sure that all entrance doors and doors leading to shared facilities close properly behind you. During winter, snow and grit may prevent doors from closing completely, so always check that the door has latched securely after entering or leaving the building.
